What's the difference between the national and state portions?+
Nearly every state exam splits into a national portion (general real estate principles: ownership, contracts, agency, financing, appraisal) and a state-specific portion (your state's license law, regulations, and required forms). The national portion is typically the larger share, often 60 to 100 questions of a 100–150 question total.
How is real estate math tested?+
Math is a small share of most exams by question count but is consistently missed. Expect commission splits, loan-to-value ratio, simple interest, property tax proration at closing, area calculations, and capitalization rate (Value = NOI ÷ Cap Rate) problems.
What happens if I don't pass?+
Most states let you retake only the portion(s) you failed, for a set period, typically with a short mandatory waiting period before rescheduling and a new registration fee.
PSI or Pearson VUE: does it matter which one administers my exam?+
Your state contracts with one provider. You don't choose. PSI and Pearson VUE deliver the same style of computer-based, multiple-choice exam; the differences are logistical (scheduling, test-center locations, check-in procedure, calculator policy). Our checklist and questions are written to work for both.
What score do I need to pass?+
Most states require roughly 70 to 75 percent correct on each portion (national and state) separately. Always confirm your state's exact passing score and structure in its official candidate handbook.
